Diversity.  Neighborhoods.  Community.  Locally owned businesses.  Street art and artistry. 

Historically, all these have distinguished New York City from the main. 

They are in peril. 

This is important.  For everyone.  Public space, in all its forms, is increasingly managed and policed.  

City officials want to tell us who we should see, what we should value, and how we should interact.  

They are wrong.
